From Duna to the result

DUNA provides an ample shape as a starting point for creating ceramic pieces with their own identity.

The mold defines the base shape, while you decide the height, edges, textures, and finishes. The same shape can be transformed into different results depending on how you work the clay.

Tips and care

How do I prepare the mold before using it?

No special preparation is required. Use a clean and completely dry mold before starting work.

What clay thickness do you recommend?

We recommend working with slabs approximately 5 to 7 mm thick. The thickness can be adjusted depending on the type of clay, the size of the piece, and the desired result.

When should I unmold it?

The time required will depend on the type of clay and environmental conditions. As a general guide, the piece can be removed from the mold approximately 5 to 20 minutes after you begin working on it. The key is for the clay to have become firm enough to hold its shape upon removal. Avoid leaving it on the MDF for too long, as the material absorbs moisture from the clay.

Can I leave the piece to dry on the mold?

We do not recommend letting the piece dry completely on the mold. Once the clay has enough structure to hold its shape, remove the piece from the mold and continue with a slow, controlled drying process.

How do I clean my mold?

Remove any clay residue with a slightly damp cloth and let the mold dry completely before storing it.

Do not submerge the mold in water or wash it directly under the tap.

How should I store the molds?

Store them completely dry, protected from moisture and away from direct sunlight. To store multiple molds, we recommend using an upright dish rack, leaving space between them to allow for air circulation. They can also be stored horizontally on a flat surface, provided they are completely dry.

Can I apply a sealer or varnish?

No. We do not recommend applying sealants, varnishes, or waterproofing products to the MDF. The material's ability to absorb some of the moisture from the clay is crucial for easy demolding. Waterproofing the surface causes this property to be lost, potentially making it more difficult to remove the piece from the mold.
